Experienced

Ali's experience in health care actually began shortly after high school when she passed her CENA certification. She decided not to peruse a career in medical at that time. There is no way she could have known at the time how this experience could come back around.

Beginning in 1998, Ali’s grandmother’s dementia became advanced where she started needing more care. Her grandparents were moved closer, and Ali and her mother became shared caregivers. Although informal, this was her first experience with home health care. Through this shared experience Ali watched her grandma slow mental decline and all the struggle that goes along with it.

A few years later after her grandmother’s death in 2000, Ali began working with her first home health agency connected with the local hospital helping clients go grocery shopping, travel to appointments in addition to cooking meals, cleaning their homes and tending to their personal needs. In that time, she re-earned her CENA certificate. She stayed in that position for 13 years.

In 2016 the Home Health division of the hospital merged with the local senior center. Ali continued with her clientele housecleaning, grocery shopping for them and taking care of their personal needs, for another 5 years.

During this time Ali also worked for an assisted living facility for 3 years. The first two of those year she worked at a Resident Care Aid assisting residents with Activities of Daily Living, assisting with life enrichment activities and working in the memory care area. The final year she worked in the kitchen, serving meals to all the residents.

Ali is currently working for her local hospital (A different than one than priorly mentioned). For the first year she worked in the kitchen bringing meals to patients all over the hospital. She now works in the emergency room where she continues to enjoy learning new aspects of medicine.

The goal of Adoring Hands is to share that information with you the reader, so that you can have the benefit of that experience.
